If beautiful scenery and excellent amenities are only whetting your palate for the Biltmore Estate, wait until you get a gander of the food. With several dining venues available on the sprawling acreage, I couldn’t choose just one. For the next few articles, we’re going to explore the awesome restaurants together so you can pick and choose which ones to drop into on your own Biltmore adventure.
The first restaurant we’re going to explore is the perfect place for an afternoon brunch. The Library Lounge has the aesthetic of the elegant library in the Biltmore house that it was named after. It’s easy to imagine Mr. and Mrs. Biltmore dropping in for a bit of tea and a sandwich before continuing on their way home. The views from this restaurant are picturesque and perfectly framed with large windows overlooking the greenery below, add in some live music and a great waitstaff, and you’ve got the makings of a great dining experience.
The executive chef, Sean Eckman, is a former farm boy who is very enthusiastic about the farm-to-table program Biltmore is implementing in many of their restaurants. His menus can be described as seasonal and light, the perfect accompaniment to a long day of hiking around the estate.
I am a huge cheese fan, so I had to try the artisan cheese platter and was not disappointed in the least. Rich is the perfect description for the delicious offerings I was treated with. There is a lot to this platter so definitely plan on sharing with the whole table.
The perfect pair with the cheese platter was the caesar salad. I’m a little bit of a salad snob but this one was perfect. The lettuce was crisp, the dressing was delicious, and it was the perfect cool temperature to compliment a light meal. If you are in desperate need of carbs, they have a plethora of sandwiches available as well. I heard very good things about the grilled cheese sandwich in particular, so check it out for me and let me know!
Overall, the Library Lounge is the perfect pitstop for a light meal that will leave you satisfied but not overstuffed. I definitely recommend.
