To say these animals are well taken care of is a vast and terrible understatement. They’re fed on native grasses and given fresh spring water with no additives or chemicals. Dr. King is very dedicated to keeping his animals in their prime and it’s nice to see how healthy his animals are. Speaking of animals, he has a plethora of them. The sorts of livestock you’re going to see include:  American Buffalo (Bison), the rare White Bison, rare Black Bison, milking Camels, African Watusi, North American Elk, Himalayan Yak, and Deer. If you haven’t heard about some of these livestock types, no worries, I hadn’t either until I showed up. The guides at the farm are more than happy to answer questions you may have about their animals. elk2This is a working farm so make sure you call for reservations at least 24 hours in advance. It’s totally worth it to enjoy the rolling landscape and the beautiful scenery while learning about these amazing animals.

In addition, if you have the ability to grill out, I would recommend taking home some of their meats with you. It’s all organic and you get to see the animals in their environment, which does make you feel a little better knowing how well-cared for they are. They offer their meats on premises and they include bison, elk, and pork in a variety of cuts. If you’re concerned about how to cook a particular cut, they will offer cooking instructions and suggestions to make sure your food comes out just right.

Even if you’re vegetarian, telk 3his tour is worth the time it takes to see these beautiful creatures gathered in one place. Call ahead, book yourself a reservation, and, if you’re traveling in a big party, make sure to ask about group discounts.
