For those looking for a spin on their workout or those just looking to get out and experience the wonderful fall colors and local economy that western North Carolina has to offer, Cycle to Farm is the perfect excuse to get on that old bike and take to the road. Beginning five years ago, Cycle to Farm offers an experience entrenched in the heart of the mountains like none other. The Sandy Mush ride will start and finish at the New Belgium Liquid Center in west Asheville. New Belgium has been the sponsor of Cycle to Farm since it’s early beginnings.
Cycle to Farm provides participants with a tour of local farms by bicycle allowing you to take in the stunning scenery and try tasty food samples crafted by the farms and products for sale at every farm. After the bike ride, there is the Fabulous After Party which includes a delicious farm to table meal. There will also be free locally roasted coffee thanks to Dynamite Coffee, snacks served at the start by Red Scout Farm, bike mechanic support at the start and on the route offered by Liberty Bikes and Motion Makers, Support and Gear vehicles on course just in case you need a ride back, and cycling ambassadors riding with you to offer help and support so even those just venturing into the cycling world can feel comfortable on this excursion.
The Cycle to Farm route is approximately 62 miles through beautiful country on low-traffic roads. It takes you through rural farmland and forests with a Farm Stop located every 10 to 20 miles. Tasty samples will be offered free of charge and an option to purchase items that will be delivered to you at the finish line free of charge is available. The after party allows for meals to be purchased for spouses, family, and friends and will have a refrigerated truck to store your purchases while you enjoy the farm to table meal and ice cream desert.
